Employees are encouraged to serve on boards for both profit and nonprofit organizations to aid in professional development and community engagement. Employers should establish employee eligibility guidelines and set expectations for board representation. An employer may choose to assist their employee with the financial obligations of serving on a nonprofit board. Additionally, employees serving on nonprofit boards may be eligible to use paid volunteer hours or receive Dollars for Doers for their time.
